Our Annual Tree Seedling Giveaway will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 on the front porch of the Oldham County History Center.  We will begin handing out trees promptly at 11:00 a.m. (not earlier) and will go until 12:30 p.m. - -  OR UNTIL THE TREES RUN OUT!!!  Please plan your day accordingly so you aren't disappointed. Come out and meet Smokey the Bear and pick up your seedlings!

Earth Day - celebrated nationwide each year on April 22nd.

May 1-June 15, 2012

Big Tree Contest - - The contest will begin on May 1st and will run through June 15, 2012.  This year's species is the Sycamore. Do you have the biggest Sycamore in Oldham County? 

Find out by entering the contest in one of the following categories:

Grades K-6; Grades 7-12; Ages 18-55 or the Senior Citizens (56 and over) category.  In addition to $50 prize winners in each of these categories, there will be a grand prize winner who will also receive a family membership to the Oldham County History Center!

August through September:

Monarch Butterfly Program  - - Watch for the return of the monarch in our area in April or early May.

Teachers interested in participating in the August 2012 program can sign-up by calling our office at 222-5123. We have 100 spots and they fill up fast so get your name on the list!

Mid-September be on the lookout for the monarchs as they migrate through Oldham County on their way to Mexico.  It's a truly a sight to see!

Sept-November:

The KY Division of Conservation and KY Farm Bureau Art & Writing Contest will take place in the fall of 2012.
